Physical Media Data Submission

NDR Users have the option to submit physical media to the service provider Moveout Data Services Ltd (Moveout) for data loading to the NDR.

This process is initiated when you give notification of intent to submit a media shipment for ingestion and upload.  

You need to fill in the form shown below, and attached to this document - “physical media submissions & loading.xlsx”

Once completed you can attach the form to the submit a request form.

On receipt of these details, Moveout will generate a quote for the requested work based on the information provided and the published rates.  When physical media is received, Moveout will notify the submitter of any discrepancies that result in changes to the original quote.

It is no longer necessary to create and submit duplicates of reportable seismic as required previously. If you choose to submit data on media rather than self-service upload, only one copy should be submitted.

Submitted data is expected to comply with the data formats and standards as specified in the NSTA’s ‘Information Reporting – Form and Manner’ document (see table ‘NDR Compliant Seismic Survey Data Formats’).  Should you have any concerns or questions regarding submission compliance, please contact NDR Support directly for advice and guidance.

For data that is non-compliant, you will be notified directly of anomalies resulting in failure and a remedial action agreed between you and Moveout.  Should you not agree a work plan to address non-compliance in their data, the data tape shipment will be returned to owner at their cost.  

Magnetic tapes and portable USB drives that are submitted to the NDR will be deemed to have become the property of the NSTA.  Media is not routinely returned to the reporting organisation.  

No physical media will be retained by the NDR as a permanent archive.  When information is submitted on media, the data will be extracted and uploaded to the NDR cloud services. The media will then either be cleared of information and repurposed or destroyed using an environmentally safe method.  

Supporting Information                

Users are requested to submit detailed packing/contents listing describing the tape numbers, data on tape, format & version, survey name, line numbers, etc. against which items can be cross referenced.

If the data is submitted on USB disk, please provide information about the directory structure and file names.

Payment

Payment may be made up front by Debit or Credit Card, or alternatively you may request payment by invoice on submission of a valid Purchase Order (PO) number.  Where payments are made through a PO, you will be provided with an order number to reference in the PO. Data loading work will commence on confirmation that payment for loading services has been received.

It should be noted that failure to provide sufficient information may result in delays to the fulfilment of reporting activity, and potentially, no action and the return of media to the sender. Any costs arising are to be borne by the submitter or owner of the information.

All orders for the loading of data on physical media to the NDR are subject to the Terms and Conditions of Osokey Limited. These terms are in addition to the terms of the National Data Repository User Agreement.
